Overview The following document provides details of the modifications and/or enhancements made between version 4.00.10 and 4.01.01 of the QLogic SANsurfer Switch Manager for SANbox 5200 and SANbox2 switch product family. Version 4.01.01 is a feature release that supports the QLogic SANbox2 and SANbox 5200 switch product lines and should only be used in conjunction with 4.1 switch firmware. II. Modifications and/or Enhancements - New Application Name – SANbox Manager has been renamed to SANsurfer Switch Manager. The installation location has been modified to reflect this name change. Also, SANsurfer Fabric View has been renamed to SANsurfer Performance Viewer. - Fabric Tracker – This feature set will help detect potential errors caused by a mismatch of firmware or driver versions or changes in the fabric device configuration. You can take a snapshot of the fabric and export that to a file to use as a baseline; then later, analyze that information to identify version mismatches and/or fabric configuration changes (addition, relocation or removal of devices in the fabric). The information in the snapshot includes: o Current date and time o Version of the active switch firmware o Device hardware, driver and firmware version from FDMI o Fabric location of each attached device - Zoning Wizard – This wizard walks a user through the creation of a single zone set. The focus is on creating zones to isolate Windows NT storage and assigning storage to servers. - Port WWN nicknames – A user can define symbolic names for device WWNs. These nicknames, along with WWNs, are displayed in the Devices tab. These nicknames replace WWNs in all zoning screens. - Embedded GUI – Most functionality of SANsurfer Switch Manager is now available as an applet embedded in the firmware and launchable via a web browser. The differences include: o SANsurfer Performance Viewer is not available o Zoning Wizard is not available o Extended Credits Dialog is not available o Fabric view file functionality is not available (since only one fabric at a time may be managed) o Reduced online help - New Devices Tab – The FDMI and Nameserver tab have been merged into a single Devices tab and now displays host name and port WWN nickname. - Network Properties Dialog – This dialog box has been divided into a Network Properties dialog and SNMP Properties dialog. - Support for the following firmware changes: o NTP Client Support o Idle Session Timeouts o FDMI Enhancements III. Bug Fixes 6963, 8106 - After a hotreset (NDCLA) is performed, a pop-up box is displayed to communicate the status of the hotreset. No other action can be taken until the "Okay" button is selected. 7055 - When adding, removing or modifying a user account password while someone else has admin authority, you get multiple error messages as noted below but the changes are actually made. Release of admin privileges failed. [Reason: not currently in admin mode] Request to get admin privileges failed. [Reason: Unable to obtain admin privileges] 7841 - If SANsurfer Switch Manager is extremely busy, the short cut keys may not work on a Windows 2003 system. Exiting the pull-down menu or using the mouse to make the selection will resolve the issue. 8109 - SANsurfer Performance Viewer will stop graphing after a non- disruptive code load and activation, or hot reset. To resume graphing, close the Performance Viewer session and open a new instance of Performance Viewer. 8423 - Occasionally when applying changes to the Network Properties, the operation will incorrectly fail with the message “Attempting to change SNMP configuration failed [Reason: SNMP trap address and port number combinations must be unique!]”. When this happens, retry applying the changes to correct the situation. 8452 - Not all bursty event alarms, such as frame decode errors, are captured in the Event Browser log. The full list of event alarms can be viewed via the command line interface. IV. Known Issues 6693 - When starting SANsurfer Performance Viewer on a Windows server from within the GUI with a Fabric selected, the Performance Viewer fails to load at the IP address of the fabric specified and an empty Performance Viewer is presented to the user. The user must then type in the appropriate IP address of the fabric they wish to view. 6776 - When installing via SANsurfer Management Suite (SMS) on Linux, if you are not doing the install as a super-user, the application will display error messages stating that err.txt, out.txt, alarms.txt and hosts.txt cannot be created during the installation process. These messages can be ignored as they are not needed for the switch portion of SMS. 8476 - When saving files in the Event Browser, if there is a period in the file name, the CSV and XML extensions are not appended to the file name as expected. 8822 - After loading new firmware to all switches in a multi-switch fabric and saying no to any resets, only the entry switch shows the correct pending firmware in the topology and faceplate displays. Doing a refresh in any of the faceplates that are wrong causes the pending firmware to be updated. 8850 - The embedded GUI supports a single fabric, therefore operations that allow you to load or save multiple fabric configuration information have been removed from the embedded GUI. However, in User Preferences, the "View file auto save and load" option was not removed. Enabling or disabling this preference does not change or affect operation of the GUI. 8868 - Running with Solaris 9 and Netscape 4.78 with the embedded GUI, the browser window will close if you try to resize it. 8904 - When running the embedded GUI with Windows Internet Explorer, if the user selects a file which specifies Windows Internet Explorer as the default file to use for that file type, when the page is brought up in the same Windows Internet Explorer browser window, the embedded GUI is automatically closed and the new page is displayed in the Windows Internet Explorer browser window. You can work around this issue by opening a second Internet Explorer browser window after loading the embedded GUI in the first Internet Explorer browser window. Files that specify to use Internet Explorer will be opened up in the second window. 8970 - Restore does not restore the SNMP enable configuration setting. 8974 - When restoring an archive via the Configuration Wizard, the switch administrative state and timeout values are not restored.
