Overview The following document provides details of the modifications and/or enhancements made between version 4.0.0.11 and 4.1.0.14 of the QLogic firmware for SANbox 5200 and SANbox2 switch product family. Version 4.1.0.14 is a feature release for the QLogic SANbox2 and SANbox 5200 switch product lines. If using the SANsurfer Switch Manager fabric management application, you must use SANsurfer Switch Manager version 4.01.01, or later, in conjunction with this firmware. II. Modifications and/or Enhancements - This 4.1 switch firmware can be loaded without a reboot or disrupting the switch fabric. - NTP Client Support – Allow switches to synchronize their time with a centralized server. This feature is disabled by default. To enable, set the NTPClientEnabled and NTPServerAddress parameters via the “set setup system” command. - Idle Session Timeouts – Automatically disconnect the command line interface if there is no activity after a specified number of minutes. The default is 0 (never timeout). To modify the default, set the InactivityTimeout parameter via the “set setup system” command. - FDMI Enhancements – The following enhancements have been made to FDMI: o Support for hostname registration has been added o A hostname and PortID column has been added to the “show fdmi” command - Embedded GUI support – A web server is now installed on the switch to allow SANsurfer Switch Manager to be served from the switch. The default is that the embedded GUI is available, or enabled. You can disable use of the embedded GUI by setting the embeddedGUIEnabled parameter to false via the “set setup system” command. Refer to the GUI changes below for more details. - Auto Performance Tuning – The firmware will set MFS, VI preference and LCF preference to maximize performance based on running port type when a port goes online. This firmware automatically sets this parameter based on switch type. Therefore, we recommend not modifying this parameter. - The legal configuration ranges for temperature thresholds for temperature warning/fail were changed from 0C-100C to 40C-75C. III. Bug Fixes Switch Firmware: 6736 - If a SANbox2-64 I/O blade is not installed, SNMP connUnitRevsRevId erroneously returns a value of 1.0 for the Hardware PCB Version. 8148 - After a hot reset, or NDCLA, an SNMP trap will be issued containing “WARNING: Received out of range enumeration 0 is not a known value for connUnitStatus”. This trap can be ignored. Interoperability: 8417 - In a QLogic/Brocade 3900 fabric in non-FC-SW-2 mode, after changing zoning on the QLogic switch, that zoning does not get updated on the Brocade 3900 switch. This only occurs with Brocade 3900 firmware v4.1.0 and later. IV. Known Issues 7518 - The firmware does not yet detect and display the proper type of media, such as copper interconnect or Optical X-Pak transceiver, plugged in to the 10Gb port. This will be supported in a future release of switch firmware. 8946 - In a multi-switch fabric with the switches connected via ISLs and max zoning on one switch and small (and different) zoning on the other, the E_Port isolates due to a zone merge failure since zone limits have been reached; this is expected behavior. However, a partial zone merge takes place with the switch with the smaller zoning taking on the zone members of the other switch. 8895 - While maximum zoning limits have been increased in this release, the SANbox2-16 cannot support a hot reset (NDCLA) while these maximum zoning limits are reached. If using the zoning limits listed in the 4.0 manual, a hot reset can be performed. Refer to section 3.4.1.4 of the 4.0 Switch Management User's Guide for the zoning limits for the 4.0 release. 8984 - If a FL_Port device is logged out of the switch and immediately logs back into the same switch port as an F_Port, an area RSCN will be sent out with an empty device list causing the Brocade switch to panic. To avoid this problem, the "ForceOfflineRSCN" parameter should be set to True. This will force the offline RSCN out immediately with the full device list and then an online RSCN to be sent when the port login process completes. V.
